How do I get my "wiped" PC running again.?

I recently wiped the drive of my old PC after a virus killed it. I installed XP Pro on it but it looks funny and Hardware Wizard says I have no driver for ethernet. By "funny" I mean too big like in safe mode, though it's not in safe mode.
